As we pause on Memorial Day to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country, we also turn our hearts toward the spiritual guardians who embody courage, sacrifice, and protection. One such figure is St. Michael, the celestial warrior and patron saint of soldiers and first responders. His story offers a powerful reminder of the divine strength behind earthly valor. It’s no coincidence that St. Michael is the patron saint of military personnel, police officers, and paramedics. Like him, they step into chaos to restore peace. On Memorial Day, we especially remember those who gave their lives in that sacred duty, those who stand firm in the face of danger, committed to protecting others at great personal cost.
For many, the call to serve comes with a profound sense of purpose — not only to defend a nation, but to uphold the values of justice, dignity, and peace. As we reflect today, let us remember not only with gratitude, but with prayer. Let us say it not just for ourselves, but for the souls of the fallen, and for all who continue to serve in harm’s way.
Memorial Day reminds us that heroism isn't just found on battlefields, but in every act of courage and selflessness. As we lay wreaths, fly flags, and remember the names etched in stone, may we also lift our hearts to heaven.
A personal appropriate verse is John 15:13 - " Greater love has no one than this; To lay down one's life for one's friends. " Serving together in the military or as a public servant gives such an opportunity to self-less service. Today we remember those that gave such sacrifice, whether on the physical battlefield or the one within. The basis of this non-profit is spurred from such fact itself and is held dearest to staff and members. We understand and embrace the day today. I would tell you regardless of that solemn thought, those gone would want you to enjoy the day and live it to its fullest, regardless of how you spend this holiday weekend, live it for those who cannot one way or another.
